What is a Sheltered Workshop?
U-CO Industries, Inc. is a sheltered workshop that provides
employment for the developmentally disabled adults in Union
County, Ohio. This employment provides:
1. A pay check. This allows the employee to perform a
service for society by earning a portion of their livelihood.
They contribute to our community through the taxes they
pay and also through their personal spending.
2. Responsibility. Coming to work and doing a good job
enriches their life. They take pride in their
accomplishments.
3. An Asset to Business. Our employees perform a
service to competitive industry. We are people with
disabilities helping people in business.
4. Socialization. Our employees work side by side with
their friends. For many, this is their only social outlet.
5. Respite. For the caregivers, parents, and guardians,
the workshop gives them peace of mind by knowing their
loved one is working in a safe environment and is also a
productive member of society.
